Fishing Trip Tips For Your Time on The El Gato Dos
Advice that will help you make the most of your El Gato Dos fishing adventure:
Health-
- Seasickness is something that can be prevented and we suggest taking a nausea pill such as Bonine the night before your trip.
- Bring warmer clothes. You can always take off layers as it warms during the day. When it's warm on land, it can still be cold on the water.
- Get a good night's sleep. Fishing and being on a boat all day makes anyone tired, it's best to start the day fresh.
- Try to keep drinking alcohol to a minimum the night before your trip.
Fishing Tackle-
- We have excellent fishing gear on the boat, from two-speed reels to lighter gear. Feel free to bring your own favorite fishing rod or two. Keep in mind, the more gear you bring, the more room it takes up.
Fish Filleting, Storage, and Shipping-
- The cost of filleting your catch is included in the trip. It's a good idea to bring a cooler if you plan on taking your catch home. We practice catch and release as often as possible.
- Sportsman Seafood is just down the dock from the boat and can pack and send your fish home to you. Costs run $1.00 a pound plus the price of the insulated box (~$10.00) This box can be shipped overnight to your home or will fit in the overhead on an airplane. Sportsmans Seafood can store your catch until the day you leave as well.
Fish Mounting-
- We are often asked about fish mounting. We have a specialist, Rocky Markham, who does replica fish mounts at a fair price. Please ask the El Gato Dos captain for details and pricing. Your mount will be created and sent directly to your home.
