Saturday October 2nd, 2010 Tuna Time!

Monday, October 4th, 2010

Finally had a day of offshore fishing like we are supposed to have in Southern California. Seems summer fish are making a late show with Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna and few other species in the mix. The Dorado still seem to have pulled a noshow for the 2010 season with only a few being seen and just a handful caught the entire year. Maybe they will come around Christmas!
So we fished close to home Saturday for 13 tuna, 8 chunky Yellowfin to 30 pounds and 5 tasty Bluefin to about 20 pounds. We released a Mako shark as well. The guys from A&R Wholesale Distribution did a great job working together to land some nice fish. The Yellowfin were found under tern birds, and the bluefin off a long drift soaking baits. It was a truly excellent day. So book and trip and come get some!!

Friday, September 17th, 2010 A little luck!

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

Fished a crew trip today with Rafe, Josh, David, Kerim and myself. Ended with 16 tunafishes. 14 Yellowfin, 2 Albacore. 5 fish came on the kite. We fly a kite with an outrigger release clip on the kite line. A bait line is sent up to the clip and the bait dangles below the kite, away from the boat. Deadly on tuna at times and Friday it was. For 2 hours we watched Yellowfin blowup on the baits! A great freakin day!

8-3-2010 Bassin

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

You want bass? We got bass! Fished a few 1/2 days today for good fishing on Calico and Sandbass. Decent conditions in the AM, better in the afternoon. No exotics seen today, tried a little sharkin, no sharks. We were rewarded with a big whale showing us it’s tail a few hundred feet from the boat and tons of dolphins, porpoise, or whatever you want to call them. Flipper, call them flipper and call it a day. Fish tacos for all my friends!!!

Nice Thresher Shark!

Monday, August 2nd, 2010

Had a epic day with my favorite group from AZ yesterday. High quality rockfish, and a nice Thresher shark to top off the day. Thanks Tucker, Michaelene, Matt, Heather, Miguel and Jeanne. Miguel subdued the shark in about 25 min. Nice work!! When the tuna are not biting, there’s still plenty of good fish around to catch.

July 15th 2010 Warming Waters!! Finally summer!!

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Holy crap spring was good and bad. There were Seabass around, but overall the water was cold as January and green as can be. The past two days the sun has finally been showing it’s face and the sea water is saying “thank you!” This guy thought summer would never come or show up some time with Santa. With the warmer water comes some trips. So we fish this weekend. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. We still have Saturday open if you want to fish in the morning. The rest of next week looks good, so book a trip before someone else does.

Nice La Jolla Yellowtail. Come get some!!!!

Cool weather, Hot fishing

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Weather is cooler than normal here in San Diego, but our local fishing for Calico Bass is going well. We have been running 1/2 day trips targeting the bass in the La Jolla area. The Coronado Islands have had good fishing on the Cailco bass, a few Yellowtail and some rare Bluefin tuna in the mix.

June 25, 2010 Fun Friday with Huge Halibut!

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

Did an AM 1/2 today topped with a monster 44″ 35 pound Halibut. Had quite a few other fish including a nice Leopard shark, many Calico bass, Sandbass and some fun to pull on Batrays. Thanks to Sean and his crew for a great trip!!

Giant Black Seabass — Yellowtail biting!

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Fished yesterday and had an angler catch a huge Black Seabass. Fish was approx. 75 pounds. We originally thought it was a nice Yellowtail. The fish was kept in the water, hook removed and it swam away quickly and very healthy. There is great Yellowtail fishing at the Cornados right now. It’s time to fish!
