Left Mission Bay at 12 midnight with some excellent sardines heading southwest. We were met with bumpy conditions and the weather conditions declined all day long. With my plan in play we made it 45 miles before the sun came up. We were able to work down swell to the east all day, pretty much the only way it was comfortable to fish. We found good fishing and ended with 20 Yellowfin, 7 Dorado, a Yellowtail and a few skipjack. We released the jacks and more Yellowfin. We also got a rare look at a CUVIER’S BEAKED WHALE, I have only seen one before in all my years on the ocean. We got pretty close to this one. We weighed some fish for the tournament, not catching the big Albacore I had hoped for, but we still have a chance. Will post results later today.
